It seems almost unpatriotic to serve a burger without fries. So when grilling my favorite hamburger, I always make sure to have a few servings of these grilled sweet potato and white potato fries ready!
These fries are yet another expression of my love for sweet potato wedges and/or sweet potato fries. Like those recipes, these grilled fries are a healthy alternative to deep-frying. Throwing them on the grill makes them quick and easy to make, with less mess. The colors and grill marks also add wonderful color to your plate. And naturally, they’re delicious!
Grilled Sweet Potato and White Potato Fries
PREP TIME: 5 minutes
COOK TIME: 20 minutes
YIELD: Serves 4
WHAT TO GRAB:
4 white potatoes
2 large sweet potatoes
4 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons Kosher salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
HOW YOU DO IT:
1. Skin the potatoes, and cut them in half, vertically. Lying them flat, make vertical cuts at half-inch intervals. In a large mixing bowl, combine the wedges with the olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and chili powder. Mix well.
2. Place the potato wedges on a pre-heated grill, at 45 degree angles. Grill the sweet potato wedges for about 8 minutes per side. Grill the white potato wedges for about 10 minutes a side. Once done, transfer the fries to a cooling rack to keep them from getting soggy. Serve warm with a classic hamburger.

I tried these last weekend and they were fantastic. I’ve enjoyed perusing your blog and look forward to trying more of your recipes. I am just getting into cooking and food photography and love to find great sites such as yours. Thanks!

Tried these today with grilled cornish hens. Worked out great, as the cooking times were about the same. Not just a hamburger side!

I stumbled here looking for a recipe. My oven seems to have committed suicide so I’m limited to my grill tonight. I’m going to give these a try. I’m not known for my culinary skills so I’m hoping I can accomplish this. I’m drooling a nice puddle over the picture now.
